Vrsar, Croatia
The international sculpting school  takes place every summer at the abandoned Montraker quarry near Vrsar. High-quality grey stone (Aurac) has been obtained here ever since Romanesque times. The quarries around Vrsar and Rovinj were exploited to the most extent during the long rule of the Venetian Republic in Istria (from the 13th to the 18th century).

B&W Sunday

in response to Paula's B&W Sunday - AFTER & BEFORE
I want to introduce a recurrent (monthly) theme: after and before where you would show the same  photo, regardless of the subject, in both monochrome and colour.

Play me, I am Yours

in response to Daily Post - GRACEFUL
Gracefulness is a tricky quality — it manifests itself as an effortless, subtle harmony between a subject and its environment.

Play Me I’m Yours’ is an artwork by artist Luke Jerram.  From 6-19 October 2012, ten street pianos were distributed across the streets of the Perth CBD and metropolitan areas as part of the 2012 AWESOME International Arts Festival for Bright Young Things. Located in public parks, streets and squares, the pianos were available for any member of the public to play and enjoy. The pianos were decorated by young people from all over Western Australia in collaboration with Western Australian contemporary artists.

Unfocused

in response to Paula's Thursday's Special - UNFOCUSED

Field of lights, Uluru
Australia
The exhibition, aptly named Tili Wiru Tjuta Nyakutjaku or ‘looking at lots of beautiful lights’ in local Pitjantjatjara is Bruce Munro’s largest work to date, with more than 50,000 slender stems crowned with radiant frosted-glass spheres over an area the size of seven football fields. Pathways draw viewers into the installation, which comes to life under a sky brilliant with stars.

A different world

in response to Daily Post - AMBIENCE
Ambience is the atmosphere of one’s surrounding environment. It basically boils down to how one’s surroundings impact the human senses and alter the feelings of an individual. Things like light, temperature, smell, sound, and sometimes taste, all work together to create ambience. The term ambience usually refers to a positive atmosphere that uplifts a person’s mood.

in response to WPC - NAMES
This week, share a photo that includes a name. When you stop and look around, you realize that we’re surrounded by names: street signs, name tags, vanity license plates, boat names, brand names, the spines of the books on your shelf… there are possibilities everywhere.

Light in Darkness

This week the topic is Light and Dark.  You can have light and dark in the same photo.  Or you can have at least one very light and bright photo and at least one darker toned photo.  What I am looking for is great contrast.

Happy New Year

in response to The Weekend in B&W

Women of Brussels

It’s the time of year when we usually take stock of our life, hoping to make it better in some way and looking forward to the forthcoming year expecting it to bring solutions to our troubles. Please, join me in this challenge and show me what your 2016 was like. Chose 12 of your best photographs – they don’t have to be from 12 different months, but photographs that you think represent best your year.
